Developing a competitive application takes time and effort. To better understand the likelihood of success, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) publishes its award statistics which include statistics on funding mechanisms, institutions, activity code, and acceptance rates.
NIDA’s SBIR and STTR Application Review and Funding Rates for FY2022

To identify which companies and projects were specifically funded by NIDA in FY2020, please use the publicly available NIH RePORTER database. NIH RePORTER offers two tools to help in your search:
- Quick Search: Use keywords such as text, PI names, project numbers, fiscal year, agency, etc. to search funded projects (e.g. NIDA SBIR funded projects)
- Matchmaker: A powerful query interface where you can submit scientific text or abstracts to identify similar projects that have been funded by NIH. The matches are based on the terms and concepts you provide in the submitted text (e.g. virtual reality software as a medical device to treat patients with substance use disorder).
